My great experience at Dialogo Brazil in Salvador de Bahia

Today I want to tell you more about my wonderful experience lived at Dialogo Brazil, a Portuguese language school in Salvador, Bahia. Dialogo Brazil is located in the district of Barra a few steps from the most beautiful beaches of Salvador like Porto da Barra and close to the major tourist city attractions such as Farol da Barra and the historic center Pelourinho.

Barra’s area is a part of the city that combines ancient traditions and modern buildings, skyscrapers with beatiful seaview and yacht clubs. The area is safe and the beauty of this "bairro" is that it can be allcrossed on foot. Dialogo Brazil offers a comfortable student residence from which you can get to school in 10 minutes walking. It is also possible to stay with a local Baiana family to be totally involved in Brazilian culture and improving quickly the level of Portuguese language.

The first impression after arrived at Dialogo Brazil was excellent. Starting from home with my backpack I came to school on foot in exactly 10 minutes. There I found two new students, Ludivine, a French girl from Paris and Rickard, a Swedish guy. Immediately we started to know each other speaking in a funny Portuguese. All the staff introduced themselves and gave us a textbook and a brochure about living in Salvador. In addition to this they gave us a card to receive discounts in the major restaurants in the city. After having passed a test to determine the speaking level we started language lessons. My teacher is called Isabella, she is young but wellprepared and patient. The lessons are divided to deliver all the important aspects of learning a language, like grammar, vocabulary, listening and communication. To practice we use songs, texts and exercises of oral communication.

At mid-morning there is a break when it is served tea and coffee to the students. It is also possible to sit outside on a large balcony practicing Portuguese. I attended the Brazil Workshop course so my day finished at 12:30 pm when I had a great lunch in Barra with my new classmates. Language courses, the importance of speaking another language

In order to get a better job, access to more information to travel safely and avoid communication problems to learn a second language is important today. It is also a fundamental requirement in our CV and it will say a lot about us and make us win or lose points during an interview. So if you love languages and want to learn or improve a language not hesitate to do it .

Who has not ever been told, Tu hablas español? This question is one that more can be heard on the street . Therefore it is important to become aware that you learn new languages opens many doors and foremost in the workplace.

Learning a foreign language can be easier than it seems . You have to work different skills such as reading, speaking , writing and listening . If you only go to class a couple of hours a week is not enough , you have to work at home a little more. Obviously one of the best ways to learn a foreign language is to go and live in the country where that language is spoken. But if you have no chance , you can always improve a lot by studying in the same country in which you reside . There are a couple of strategies you can take to learn a language well , without forgetting that the key word for this is ' motivation ' .

Then we will give a few tips to help you motivate and succeed. They are useful for learning any language (English, Chinese , Russian, Arabic , Portuguese, German ... )

The important thing is to have confidence in yourself. Learning a language has its complications but not impossible .
Enjoy it . Make the most of the new language and culture .
Be consistent . Study each day. During short periods of time throughout the day . You do not have because you always do the same activities . You can watch videos, read a little , watch a show or movie ...
Searching for native people with similar interests to yours . Using new technologies to communicate : Facebook , Skype , Twitter ...
Take advantage of all the resources out there to improve your language. Reading, you can check out books and magazines from the library . In addition there are thousands of online sites where you can read. Listen , the chances are slim. Movies , series, radio programs ...
Do your homework . Check them after your teacher 's corrected. Do not learn what is sure is not right.
Write the new words you learn and use new mechanisms to memorize .
Do not get bogged down . It always learn from mistakes.
Increases contact with the tongue . Change language in you phone , social networking , books ...

Then we will give you the keys to know that languages will have the most success in the future:

· English . Although it has fewer native speakers than Chinese or Spanish , their strength is spoken on five continents and is the official language of some of the most powerful countries on the planet.

· Spanish . About 500 million people worldwide speak it. It is the second most studied language after English.

· Mandarin Chinese. It is the most spoken language on the planet. Many consider the language of the future due to its expansion.

· French . Alongside English is the only language spoken on all continents .

· Arabic. With 280 million speakers , is the eighth most spoken language in the world.

· German . One of the most popular and currently studied in our country languages.

Malvern House the most modern school in Dublin

Dear students, today I want to tell you more about my experience lived at the school Malvern House in Dublin. For LanguageBookings I work to help students to find the language school that best suits their needs. Right now I am in Dublin to visit different schools and that is the reason why I spent a week studying at Malvern House in Dublin. Malvern House is definitely the most modern and technological school of the city. This school opened in 2012 and offers many different types of courses and accommodation.

Students can choose between general English course 20, 25 or 33 lessons per week in the morning or in the afternoon. Moreover students who are looking for more specific courses can opt for an excellent business course or English exam preparation for official exams such as Cambridge or IELTS. Malvern House also offers a chance to older people to attend an English course, offering Seniors course, or courses and activities such as English plus Sport or English plus Dance.

Now I want to tell you in detail what you will find if you decide to go to study in Malvern House. Every Monday new students arrive in Dublin to start an English course, before starting you will have done an online test, so during the first day you will have just a short chat to find out your English level. After that test you already can begin your lessons. Before beginning, you will receive many useful information about the city, different activities you can do and discounts which you can use if you are a student. If you are non-European student, school staff will help you with every document and advice you will need to stay in Ireland during the first days, such as opening a bank account, the pps number or information regarding visa. You will always be supported and assisted by the entire staff from Malvern House.

Now I would like to talk you about English lessons. Classrooms in this school are very technological, so lessons are very interactive. You can use wifi keyboards, projectors, and WiFi is available in the entire building. I spent really great time with my classmates and my teachers. I attended a General English course 20 lessons per week during the morning. For this course there are 4 lessons per day with a break for a coffee in the middle. Teachers are two in order to give students different methods of teaching and different types of accent.

Overall, my experience at Malvern House has been very positive, I met students from all over the world and I received an excellent treatment, in terms of quality of the teachers and in terms of structure and services offered by the school. I would recommend this school for students who are looking for high quality courses and a young and modern atmosphere.

A great experience at Dorset College

Hello everyone, I am Mauro, for LanguageBookings I work to help students from all over the world who for many reasons have decided to learn a new foreign language and want to study abroad. I love giving advice on my students about different schools and different destinations to learn a new language. That is the way I am attending courses in different schools, just to live a real experience of study abroad. Now I am in Dublin area and on this article I want to tell you about my pleasant experience lived at Dorset College Dublin.

Dorset College is a school located in the center of the Irish capital, easily accessible on foot or through many city buses. At this school I attended two weeks general English course plus conversation. This course is well structured and the school immediately seemed to me very seriously and with a great internal organization. That course is divided between morning and afternoon. In the morning, you can study the fourth keys activities to learn a language, such as grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking. While during afternoon you can work on a lot of conversation between students. That is encouraged through games and discussions on different themes. Teacher is very careful to check the conversation and correct possible mistakes. During morning classes was a pleasure to meet two teachers from different countries to teach students about different English accents. So I had a teacher from Dublin and one from United States, while in the afternoon an Irish teacher from Limerick for conversation part.

From the first impression I got to appreciate the seriousness and organization of the school. The first day of class I was with two students from Argentina and a Colombian girl. The Director of the Studies presented the school giving us a lot of useful information, it also gave us a welcome pack with specific book course, a school key chain and student's booklet with useful numbers and the activities program. Dorset College organizes activities for students every day and excursions outside Dublin at weekends.

During my time at this school I met students from all over the world. It's always nice to hear stories from different countries and new cultures to discover. I was very well received in my class and I spent two wonderful weeks there. One day in particular was very pleasant, the American Thanksgiving Day. Since our teacher is from US on the 28th of November brought us turkey and many products that they use to eat for that celebration day. It was indeed a celebration day and everybody at classroom enjoyed that moment.

Of course I can recommend Dorset College Dublin to all those who looking for an excellent academy in the heart of Dublin. A school of excellence and careful to the satisfaction of their students. I would like to thank all the school staff and every student and friend who I had the pleasure to meet there.

This school is located in a strategic position just beside the Liffey river, the main river that divides the city into two parts, north and south.

My name is Mauro, I am Italian and for LanguageBookings I work to help students to find a course and accommodation that best suits their needs and expectations. In this article I want to talk about Central College and I would like to tell you my personal experience, that is the same as new students live every Monday from all over the world. Personally I have been in this school for two weeks and I was feeling like at home thanks to a warm welcome by all students, teachers and the entire staff of the school.

Central College is not one of those huge schools where it is hard to find the classroom and you can get lost in the corridors, but it is limited in size and this promotes a family environment where everyone knows everyone else, so the best environment to establish sustained friendships. So, every Monday new students arrive here. As one of them I have taken the test in the computer room to establish my English level. Just finished the test I went into my classroom and I was lucky enough to have Marc as a teacher. You will never be bored in class with him and he has a really great sense of humor. Learning English by an occasional laugh I think is the best way to experience what I consider one of the best experiences of my life.

Classes are regular every day from Monday to Friday and in addition there is the possibility to book also conversation classes in the afternoon and I can strongly reccomend that because these afternoon classes are very useful to improve your speaking skills.

Now let me tell you about an initiative taken by our teacher Marc that organized an international break in class during the last part of the lesson. It was really funny, each student brought to class a typical dish of them country and we shared together this beautiful moment. It was a good way to know more about different cultures and a great moment of relation and culinary pleasure, I assure you!

Hello everyone, my name is Mauro and I want to tell you something more about Delfin English School in Dublin. At LanguageBookings I work to help students find the best school and the course that best suits their needs. For this reason I personally wanted to live the experience of studying for two weeks at the Delfin English School in Dublin, this school has just opened a new headquarters in London. As like as any student who books a course on internet, after booking I did an online English test to check my level of written Engish. The oral part of the test is did on the first day of school, which is always on Monday.

So, about the first day. It starts at 10 am with a presentation made directly to the Director of the school and several teachers. After presentation you will get to practice your English speaking playing. That's right, teachers have prepared a game that was very helpful for us to know each others and be able to speak in English. During the game you will have an oral interview to check your speaking skills and at about 11.30 you can already start with the lessons.

Specifically, I have attended General English Course in the morning plus one hour of Business Conversation per day. Business Conversation is really useful for those who want to improve their English in business field and for those who perhaps are looking for a job. I attended a particular lesson that explained how to write a CV in English and how to best carry out a job interview. I found it very useful. But now I want to talk about some interesting and fun, what is a Delfin Dollar! A Delfin Dollar is a special coin used inside the school. Students most willing and worthy receive every week a Delfin Dollar which is valid for a coffee or a good pint in the pub near the school. This pub is popular by every student in the school and every day there are many activities and a lot of fun. In short, at this school you cannot bore you.

I spent two wonderful weeks at Delfin English School Dublin. I met people from all over the world and I could compare myself with different cultures. No need of Student Visa to study English in the UK

A new visa rule came into force on Tuesday October 1st which permits visitors to the UK, on either a tourist or business visa, to study English when they are here on a visit or on business. In effect, this new ruling means visitors, within these visa categories, can study up to six weeks at an accredited and government approved English language school. Visitors can study in one six week block, or smaller blocks of time, provided the study period doesn’t exceed six weeks.

For many years now, the UK English language teaching (ELT) industry has bemoaned the irrational and commercially damaging ruling that, on the one hand, allowed a visitor to the UK to do a pottery course or learn how to ride a horse but, on the other hand, prohibited that same visitor from taking an English language course, the language of the country being visited.

Tony Millns, The Chief Executive of English UK, the world's leading language association, said accredited English centres would be delighted with the change. In reference to business visitors, Mr Millns added, "Our members get many requests from people here on business to brush up their business English and negotiation skills, but they must currently turn them away because study is not permitted on a business visitor visa. This is a sensible move to end the current anomalous situation."

This news of the relaxation of the visitor visa rules is a welcome boost to an industry that has been hard-hit in recent years by a combination of stifling visa rules, stiff competition from other English language destinations, such as the US and Australia, and an Olympic summer that was a complete wash-out commercially (particularly in London) for language schools. The Olympic summer seemed to keep everyone away other than well-heeled sports fans.

Importantly, courses can only be taken at centres who are accredited by approved bodies, such as the British Council or ISI within the English language school sector. Study and Work in Australia

I bet many of you have thought about the possibility of discovering the gorgeous continent of Australia while studying English; but what if we tell you that you can also work there? Which types of visa could I apply for? In order to be able to work legally you should hold one of these two visas: Working Holiday Visa or Student Visa.

The working holiday visa does not require the booking of a language course; however, it is not offered in every country. Here you can see a list of the countries that can apply for the working visa. You also can choose an easier way to be eligible to work in Australia: through a student visa.

How can you get your student visa?

What you need for this application is to book a CRICOS language course (CRICOS is the Commonwealth Register of International Courses for Overseas Students). Here we help you with this registration, it is very easy. The length of the course should be longer than 12 weeks and be full time (it means over 20 hours per week).

Once you have booked your language course and the school has confirmed, you will receive the invoice. Upon payment of this invoice, the school will issue your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), document that will be recorded with the Australian Government and that you should take to the Australian Embassy in your country when applying for the student visa. A medical check will also take place during the application process.

How many hours can you work per week?

If you hold a student visa, you are eligible to work 40 hours per fortnight, this means 40 hours per two weeks (not necessarily 20 hours every week). You will only be able to work for the period of time you have booked your language course for. Don’t forget that this one should be a full-time course.

Main characteristics of this package

Favourite destinations versus recommended ones

Which are the favorite destinations among our students? Which are the ones we recommend? You may think that the answers to these two questions are the same but in many cases they are not, actually. We first need to pay attention to the period of time where students decide to go abroad. The high season, which is the summer months in the European continent, is the one of high turnout. Many students wish to learn English, French or German – as the most famous second languages – They book their language courses and accommodation and they are ready to go. Which is their criterion when choosing destinations?

Most of the time they are guided by the things they have heard of among their communities and these lead them to the big cities, touristic places and relaxing beaches: London, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Miami and St Julian’s in Malta. We could say that these are the top metropolises to learn languages according to statistics. However, are they the ones that we, as student advisors, recommend?

When a new student turns to us for a piece of advice on where to go abroad to learn a new language, we always want this person to succeed and maximize their time in the foreign land. Our recommendations begin with semi-intensive courses in the case of the upper-intermediate and advance students; and intensive courses when talking about beginners. Regarding accommodation, we recommend to stay with host families since it is the best way to make sure they can practice the language at all times, listening to the native accent, and also experiencing the culture – learning a new language does not only mean learning the linguistic but also the socio-cultural one being this one the most important aspect to reach a successful conversation in many occasions. And finally, when recommending destination, we go for smaller cities or even villages. Why? The answer is very simple: to avoid running into people who share the same language of the student and to ensure being surrounded by native speakers most of the time. Also, these territories are much cheaper in terms of accommodation than bigger cities; this fact allows investing more money on language courses that will pay off the students’ future in the end.

To sum up, no matter which destination they choose, we always say: think that every minute that passes never comes back, so enjoy it the best way possible.

Portuguese in Brazil - attend the FIFA and the Olympic Games

Learn Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro - the Brazilian city of contrasts. I guess you all know that the FIFA World Cup is taking place this next year 2014 in Brazil and also the Olympic Games are being held by Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Because of these two important events many people are very interested in travelling there, and not only that, but also in learning the local language: Portuguese

Rio de Janeiro is not only the Statue of Christ the Redeemer, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches and Pao de Azucar, it is much more. This city hides marvels that not many people notice at first glance; but as everything in life, what it requires some kind of effort it is always worth it in the end. There is a huge contrast between social classes: the luxurious neighborhood of Barra de Tijuca is a few kilometers away from the well-known favelas. Please do not assume everything you hear about Rio de Janeiro is true. It is often rumored that the slums are very dangerous so the people that live there; please do not judge without knowing. I, myself, lived in a slum (favela) for seven months and I had no problems whatsoever; in fact, I felt pretty safe. What I loved the most about Rio de Janeiro was its population. Brazilians, in general, are very opened and welcoming with foreigners. They are very family oriented and will adopt you as their child. There is always something to do and you, for sure, will have to learn how to dance samba.

Rio de Janeiro is without any doubt one of the best choices for you to learn Portuguese. Its non-stop growing economy will allow you to increase your networking. In addition, you will find whichever type of place you like, no matter if you prefer the relaxing atmosphere of the luxurious city and the beautiful beaches, or if you are fond of the nature, the rainy forest and the wild life. There will be many choices for all your preferences. I strongly recommend you to get on this boat full of adventures and rhythm.

My year in the United States

In continuation with my previous post about Ireland, I must say that thanks to that experience at 15, I decided to enroll another fantastic adventure at 19, this time in the USA. I have always been passionate for languages, especially English. 6 weeks in Ireland + the lessons I took at an academy in my home town were not enough for me to feel comfortable with my level of English. A longer period and being surrounded by native speakers is needed to master any language. This was the reason that led me to travel to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean for a year.

I made the decision of spending 12 months in the North American country. I lived 9 months in the northern part and 3 months in the mid-west. Nothing but great words I can say about that year. However, I must admit that the period before making that decision was tough. I do understand the students who are hesitating about going to another country for such a long period of time. First of all it is the feeling of leaving your family and friends; of course you will miss them, but you have to think of it this way: they will be here when you come back; you will meet tons of new pals and your network will increase considerably. You will not only become proficient in English but you will also increase your future job opportunities, for sure. Furthermore, something that I was scared, nervous and reluctant about was the visa. When travelling to other countries, applying for the required visa is usually a tedious process; nevertheless it is worth it. Because of studying English at a language school I had to apply for a student visa. When you decide to start off the process, you just see many documents to fill out, interviews to pass and many other things you have never heard of; but don’t worry! You can do it because many students, like me, have

done it! I booked my course at the language school for 12 months; I paid my fees so they could start with the visa procedures. They issued my acceptance letter, the F-1 and the SEVIS documents. While those documents were being processed, I called the American embassy in Madrid to arrange an interview. The language school sent me the documents by ordinary mail and I brought them to the interview as requirement. Do not panic because the interview consists of questions like why you want to go to the US, where you are going to study, which are your plans for the future, etc. After a month, I had my visa at home! J The whole process lasted between a month and a half and two months. But after that, I was ready to go! I remember how happy I was when I booked my flight for September 2008! And also… how sad I felt when I had to come back in September 2009…

Thanks to Facebook and Skype I keep contact with many of the people I met that year, and you cannot imagine how great it was when 10 of us met again in Europe last year! Do not hesitate anymore and go for it. It may seem like a life time now, but once you are living this experience, time flies, I promise.

To my host family in Dublin

Life can take you in many directions and no-one knows what tomorrow may bring – tell me about it. 10 years ago, when I was 15, I decided to go to Dublin to study English. My parents hesitated a bit since I was very young and it would the first time I would take a plane and be on my own completely; nevertheless, I was very determined to do it; I was not scared but very excited about it. My mother contacted an intermediary agency that dealt with language schools and host families, and thanks to the agents everything was arranged for me to go there for 6 weeks.

I went there alone - I believe this is the best way to enjoy the adventure to the maximum. I was a shy girl who did not go out or talk to many people; however, that experience in Ireland completely changed my life. It opened my mind and made of me a new person who wanted to discover the whole world. I met other students from different countries (especially Italy and France) that I still have contact with. I went to class 4 hours in the morning and had some evenings free; four times a week the language school organized guided tours and activities for all the students so as to get to know each other and get familiar with the city.

One of the best parts of my experience in Dublin was my host family – I do recommend staying at a local’s when going abroad since it is the best technique to practice the language and to get used to the culture. I remember the first time I saw my host mother as if it was last night. I was picked-up at the airport by the language school personnel and they took me to my new house. It was at night, around 11pm (very late for the Irish culture); however, my family was waiting for me. I knocked the door and a sweet lady opened it. As we Spanish people do, when we meet someone for the first time, we usually give two kisses on the cheeks; this is what I tried to do but suddenly she extended her arm to shake hands (as Irish do). Here I learnt about the differences in cultures. I was shocked at first, but then she was so nice with me that I calmed down. Those 6 weeks with her, her husband and two kids felt like home to me. Nonetheless, I learned the lesson: wherever you go, do as you see :)

My two wonderful weeks at CES Dublin

Dear students, with this article I want to speak with you. If you are looking for an English course abroad and your ideal destination is Dublin, so I have the school for you. The CES (Centre of English Studies) is present in Dublin, London, Oxford, Worthing and Leeds. For LanguageBookings I work to help students find the best school and the course that they needs. In the Irish capital I lived my personal experience at CES, for two weeks I attended an English course 20 hours per week. Now I would like to tell you a little about how was my experience, my feelings, my emotions, and give you some advice that I hope will be helpful.

The first day is always a mixture of emotions, like the first day of school when you have to know the others schoolmates yet, but the idea of making new friends is very exciting. Start an English course abroad also means meeting new people from all over the world with very different stories. Perfumes and different accents mingle and come together when you start to speaking in the only language that it is "granted" English, of course! Ready to start on Monday with an English test in a modern building in Dublin 2, in the heart of the capital. After the English test to find out what level you can attend, there is the ritual presentation from the Principal (very kind and friendly). The school gives students a package with student book, news magazines of the city, a map and a schedule of weekly activities. Every afternoon and evening there are many activities such as visiting Guinness museum, or go all together to hear great live music in a pub in the center and enjoy a good pint of beer.

About the first day, after the test you will start with the lessons, which in my case they were divided into two hours of grammar and vocabulary with a teacher, while the others two hours focused on listening, pronunciation and conversation with another teacher. Education level is very high, the first week I was in a class of six students and we could work much more deeply touching all of the aspects of the language. If your teachers will be Stuart and Kate, you can keep quite, they are a very rare talent. In any case, the quality of teaching at CES is very high, many students from others classes confirmed me that. My friend Augustin, who is attending a preparation course for the IELTS official examination told me about your class. "There are often exam simulations and the teachers are very demanding to encourage students to get the best result for them."

I also liked school sometimes offers free classes during the afternoon, a really good opportunity for those who want to stay at school in the afternoon as well. The locals are known as individualistic who defen equity among human beings. In comparison to the rest of Asian societies, they express their feelings more openly; less than Latin cultures though. They value puctuality and prefer informal occasions rather than formal and elegant ones.

Once we know a bit about the New Zealand's culture and society, it's time for me to tell you how easy going to study there is! And not only that, how easy it is to live one of the best experiences of your life! go ahead! There is no cons, only pros!

Why study English in New Zealand?

First of all, travelling to New Zealand to study English will help you guys to improve your fluency very fast since you will be surrounded by this language at all times. You will not only learn it in class, but you will also have to use it in your daily life to interact with the locals and to get whatever you need or want.

How to get a job in New Zealand while studying there?

From January 2014 onwards, you can legally work in New Zealand; you just need to book an English language course of 20 hours per week, for 14 weeks minimum, at Government approved Category 1 English language school. Once your course is booked, the language school issues the letter of acceptance that you need to present at the embassy in order to apply for the student visa. It does not matter your level of English - there are courses for every level.

Thanks to the Student Visa, you will be able to work up to 20 hours per week (part-time job). For those students who book a whole year course (48 weeks) they are able to work full time on holidays!

Where can you work?

There is a wide fan of possibilities where you can work since the unemployment rate is only 6.2% ! The fields where students find a job more easily are: tourism and services (hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, places where their native language is needed - here your level of English might play an important role in the job interview), agriculture and farms (planting, labouring the lands, picking up fruits and vegetables), baby-sitting (taking care of children and elder people) or in any other field where other languages are needed.

How much can a student earn?

An international student might be able to earn between 10 and 15 new zealand dollars per hour. (7-8 euros approx). For the students to get paid they should open a bank account there - it is very easy and you only need the student card of the academy you attend and your passport.

Think of sunsceen if you are going to a warm place and sunny country. The sun near the Equator is very strong.
Bring and use bug's repellent.
Be careful with the fruits and vegetables that you eat. Try to avoid unpeeled items, and always make sure to cook food thoroughly.
Be careful with animals, especially wild animals. They may look cute, but they might be dangerous.

Pesquisa do tempo e clima

Antes de começar a fazer suas malas, descobrir como o tempo vai estar em sua cidade escolhida. A melhor maneira de fazer isso é a Internet, por exemplo, www.weather.com. Depois disso você vai ter uma boa compreensão de que tipo de roupas são a melhor escolha.

Bagagem

Geralmente, uma mala de 20 quilos mais ou menos e a bagagem de mão estão incluídos no preço do voo. Por favor, garantir que você não excederá os 20 quilos, porque cada quilo de excesso de peso é muito, muito caro; às vezes 30/60 € por quilo.
